Volunteer Recognition

We truly value the commitment our volunteers make when joining the HEYYline. The youth volunteers receive no outside praise for their work with HEYY, as it is a completely confidential position.  So we like to give them some new experiences.

HEYY camping is a fun way for urban youth to experience the great outdoors.    We love cooking over a campfire, especially smores and bannock.  Helping each other set up the tents is a huge team building exercise with many laughs thrown in.  We always have the opportunity to experience new things from fishing, tie dying t-shirts, canoeing and so many more.

The HEYY anniversary party on June 1, 2007 marked ten years of still listening.  The Youth Planning Action Committee invited over 100 past and present volunteers to join in the celebration. We would like to thank our many sponsors, especially Mr. Greek for their kind donations and support for this momentous occasion.  Michelle Philp was given a very special gift from the youth to recognize her tireless mentorship through the years.  She rarely takes credit for her commitment to the line and all of the volunteers, but she had to take the “hot seat” this time and listen to the kind words HEYY had for her.

This was a huge celebration and a great accomplishment for a volunteer run youth program.  We ate well and visited with many old friends as our HEYY community continues to grow.   Just wait until we turn 25.
